TitleManaging the Mature Workforce
ShortDescriptionThis report provides strategies for addressing needs associated with an aging workforce.
LongDescriptionThe report's goal is to uncover the degree to which labor shortages and aging workforce issues are being recognized by corporations, and explore what is being done to address them in terms of best practices. This report is the culmination of discussions within the Managing Mature Workers Working Group and represents a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. Issues of focus include capturing the desired knowledge and expertise of valued retiring employees, creating and maintaining a corporate culture that is welcoming to employees of all generations, and developing flexible programs to suit the needs and desires of valued retirement-eligible employees, including benefits choices and phased retirement options. Topics covered include: Key Findings, Aging Population Is a Critical Business Issue, Trends, Realities, and Business Implications, Major Issues and Best Practices: Corporate Responses, Legal Considerations, Strategies and Action Plans for Creating Change, and Awareness Today, But Little Planning for Tomorrow. There are several special features such as case study interviews with five companies, interviews with 25 additional Fortune 500 companies, and findings from corporate briefings conducted by key members of the Conference Board's Mature Workforce advisory team.
