Title | Best Practices in Recruiting and Retaining Talented Staff |
ShortDescription | This paper describes survey results of best practices in recruiting and retention amongst Certified Public Accountant firms. |
LongDescription | The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (AICPA) Private Companies Practices Section (PCPS) published this white paper upon researching the recruitment and retention issue at CPA firms. PCPS conducted a study of nearly 500 firms, including a survey and follow-up interviews, to understand how they were handling staffing problems. The white paper provides a brief report on selected results of the survey in order to offer firms insights into how others are handling recruitment and retention and to allow them an opportunity to benchmark their efforts against those of their peers. As a service to member firms, the paper also contains extensive listings of best practices for specific aspects of recruiting and retention that are intended to help CPAs address these challenges. The paper addresses the areas of recruiting (college relations, internships, and rehiring) and retention (employee orientation, career development, nurturing future partners, motivational programs, and business development). |
